Welcome Kristen Blakeway as new Art Director
by C. Bisong on 05/07/13
Bisong Art Gallery is pleased to announce Kristen Blakeway has accepted the position of Art Director. In her new role, Kristen will assist in the assessment and selection of artwork and serve as a point of contact for client relations.
As an artist, Kristen has always made an effort to surround herself with art and its endless possibilities. She finds a sense of satisfaction in seeking out works where an artist has masterfully wrought harmony through color and composition. "Truly great works must have visual order and clear evidence of solid structure as a foundation of an artist's process.
However, pieces which are visually disruptive and are borne with the intent of disturbing viewers by subjecting them to elements of cacophony
and disharmony are tantamount in creating dialogue and intrigue within the art realm. My inspiration has ignited anew with the opportunity to work with Ms. Carla Bisong and helping achieve her vision for Bisong Art Gallery; bringing unique artwork to an eager Houston audience!"
Kristen graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Houston with a BA in Art and a Minor in Art History. She is currently a member of the Texas Army National Guard and approaching Second Lieutenant status.

Tips for New Art Collectors
by C. Bisong on 11/06/12
Buying original art can feel exciting and a little overwhelming.
First, figure out your tastes. Listening to an art expert can provide great value but start your collection with art that you enjoy. Many start as a hobby; grow a collection, and then an alternative investment.
While visiting a gallery take your time and carefully review each piece. Gallery owners or staff should never make you feel bad for asking questions. Is the artist known for a certain style or technique? Where did he or she study?
Many articles have been written on protecting your art and professional services are available for restoration. Research proper lighting and climit control to protect and limit your risk of damage. Buy the best quality in your budget. When you have developed your "art eye" you will begin to notice the difference between high and low quality materials.
Lastly, enjoy the journey. I love asking others why they selected a certain piece or follow an artist?
